AWARD-WINNING artist Vincent Brown gave a portrait ‘masterclass’ demonstration at the Whitfield Tabernacle in Kingswood, which is being restored.
His painting of Basil Rogers, the last minister of the Tabernacle, was relayed to a live crowd of dozensat the New Cheltenham Community Centre. Among the audience watching the painting develop via a giant TV screen was Metro Mayor Dan Norris.
The Trust hopes to display the artwork in the revamped Tabernacle once restoration works are completed next year.
Trust secretary, Kim Scudamore, said: “Our vision for the Tabernacle has always been to provide something new for Kingswood while connecting the community with its history. Kingswood should be proud of what it’s done, but must focus on what it can be for future.”
