FAMILIES at Longwell Green Primary have won praise for changing the way children travel to school.
The school has won the highest grade of Outstanding in the Modeshift Stars scheme, which measures active and sustainable travel. Pupils have scooted, walked and cycled their way to this achievement.
Headteacher Darren Brown said: “Working alongside the South Glos Sustainable Travel for Schools team, we’ve transformed how our families travel, and the impact has been huge; a big reduction in school run traffic, a greener environment, and a genuine excite-ment with our children about doing the right thing for the planet.”
Our Lady of Lourdes Primary in Kingswood is another of only three schools to gain the top accreditation while Warmley Park School has risen to the Very Good level.
