Lolly good!

Kingswood lollipop lady Joan Crossland has received an award for her 34 years of service.

But Joan, 72, does not plan to stop helping children get safely to and from Beacon Rise primary any time soon.

She said: “I love the job and the best bit is seeing the children – especially when they get dressed up in costumes for special days.

“I often see ex pupils who are now grown up with children at the school. They will often shout out ‘Mrs Crossland, do you remember me?’

I’m still fit and I plan to keep going for a while yet!”

Joan  received her special badge as part of South Gloucestershire Council’s  celebrations to mark 70 years since the start of the school crossing patrol service. The council is looking for more school crossing patrol assistants – email roadsafetyeducation@southglos.gov.uk
