HANHAM High Street will become an open-air music venue this month as a community event brings live performances to unexpected places.
The Hanham Harmony Trail, organised by arts organisation Can’t Sit Still and funded through South Gloucestershire Council’s Creative High Streets Fund, will take place on Saturday September 5.
The free, family-friendly event will see talented professional musicians performing in pop-up locations along the High Street, inviting visitors to follow a trail map and discover a range of live music.
The accessible trail aims to remove the barriers to accessing cultural experiences.
The idea builds on the success of popular local events such as the annual Halloween and Scarecrow Trails, which attract around 1,000 people each year, while introducing something entirely new to the area.
Cat Boot, artistic director of Can’t Sit Still and Hanham resident, said: “Hanham Harmony Trail is all about bringing people together through the shared joy of live music. We want people to stumble across brilliant performances in places they would never expect, creating moments of surprise, connection and happiness. By transforming the High Street into a welcoming cultural space for everyone, we’re hoping to boost the local economy, improve social cohesion, inspire the younger generation and show what’s possible when creativity is placed at the heart of the community.”
