WALKING rugby enthusiasts from all over the country will be heading for Kingswood next month.
They will take part in a festival of the sport organised by Kingswood RFC’s Titans.
The club’s walking rugby programme hosted its first festival in 2018 and Saturday July 11, 2026 marks the eighth festival, which will be attended by 52 teams.
It means more than 500 people will be at the ckub’s ground for the event.
Walking rugby is a simplified version of rugby, fully inclusive, for all ages, abilities and genders regardless of ability.
Games are generally played over two halves of seven minutes each with a two-minute change around at half time with rolling replacements throughout the playing period.
Steve Deery, director of walking rugby at Kingswood RFC, said the sport was proud to be inclusive.
“Basically, if you can walk you can play,” he said.
“Players enjoy the exercise, friendship, and camaraderie they gain from Walking Rugby in a community club environment.
“Kingswood RFC has playing opportunities for everyone from 18 months – 80+ years.”
Kingswood Titans regularly compete at festivals across Southern England and the Midlands and by invitation at Welsh Rugby Union sponsored events.
This season saw them go international, competing at a festival in Brussels.
Kingswood Titans say anyone interested in coming to watch and support their ‘home’ festival will be welcome on Juluy 11 at Kingswood RFC, Grimsbury Road Playing Field, BS15 9RA
