Women aged over 55 are being urged to share their ageist and sexist experiences of healthcare.
Bristol Women’s Voice and Bristol Older People’s Forum are calling on older women to speak out about experiences of feeling dismissed, unheard and overlooked.
The organisations say they have uncovered repeated experiences of women over 55 feeling not fully listened to by medical professionals.
Some women described subtle but persistent attitudes that left them feeling invisible or belittled during appointments. Others reported more direct experiences of ageism and sexism, including comments linked to their age, difficulties requesting female practitioners, and repeated dismissal of symptoms and concerns.
As their joint project enters its second year, the organisations are seeking more responses.
