Lifesaving advice

AWARENESS of defibrillators in our area and how to use them, as highlighted in the Voice over recent months, is continuing.

Siston Parish Council held a session with Sharon Kirwan of South West Ambulance Service Trust, which was attended by councillors and members of the public, to improve skills and knowledge of defibrillators and CPR.

Parish clerk Sara Thomas said: β€œIt was a great session and everyone went away better informed and with renewed confidence, should any of us be first on scene, with somebody unconscious. Sharon also explained about the new practices with checking for bleeding, which is very relevant at the moment.”

Meanwhile, a 24/7 public access defibrillator has been installed at the Coronation Centre in Cadbury Heath. Together with the bleed kit already in place, this creates a fully equipped Emergency Response Station for the community.

The Royal Society of St George Charitable Trust donated this lifesaving device.
